Motivation

Who would be the best person to motivate you? I always thought that motivation was someone in your family, your friends, etc. Basically, people around you. But I realized, no.

People around me tend to motivate me the wrong way. My parents used to imply "Negative Reinforcement". Meaning, they would always say negative things, thinking that it would push me further to do the opposite. They'd say "Ang pangit mo na!" or "Ang laki-laki mo na, nakakatakot na itsura mo!" or "Hindi ka na talaga makakapag-asawa sa itsura mo!" 

What they didn't know is that it actually stresses me more. I'm actually a Stress-Eater, so instead of being motivated, I get more frustrated. That I was losing self confidence. 

Friends? They'd do the same. Though they would often say it as a form of joke, sometimes it really hurts. 

So the past few days that I've been working out, instead of listening to people around me, I would often talk to myself. I would always chant "Kaya mo 'yan, Sarah! Kayang kaya mo 'yan! Konti na lang." And it's effective. I found myself pushing myself to limits. 

People, if they (people around you) often demotivates you, always tell yourself that you can do it. Because nobody knows you can do it better than yourself.
